King David was a shepherd before he lived in a castle. When fear started to creep in before big decisions he had to face with his nation, he reflected on the simpler times in his life when he was leading sheep. Early on, David noticed how God was also a shepherd to him!
In Psalm 23 he wrote, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Our shepherd knows the green pastures and quiet waters that will restore our souls, we just have to trust Him. We have to put our eyes back on Him instead of our turbulent circumstances!
