Christmas is such a wonderful time of year for so many reasons and one reason is that each culture around the world celebrates it with a different twist. Monday, December 16 marked the beginning of a nine-day festival in Mexico called, “Las Posadas,” which means “The Inns,” in English.
The nine days marks the amount of time it took Mary and Joseph to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem (90 miles) before Jesus was born. Each evening of this nine-day festival, children all over Mexico dress up as Angels lead a group of people from home to home where they are denied entry, but given snacks instead.
